Does Obama Love America?

I will probably "step in it" on this one, but I wanted to comment on former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani's recent, rather un-PC comment that President Barack Obama doesn't "love America". It was quite a dumb thing for a seasoned politician to say even if it was a private event (ask Mitt "47%" Romney about that) unless he really wanted to evoke comment and controversy.

When Giuliani attempted to walk his comment back last week, he really didn't say what I think he really meant. Let me see if I can "help" him with that effort.

President Obama loves America. He would just love it to be different and it is his love for the country he knows America could be that he twice ran for, and was elected as its President.

Less than a week before his election in 2008, Barack Obama told the world, “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” Certainly, no one can argue that he has not been rather single-minded in his attempt to follow up on his number one campaign promise and what is truly his raison d'ĂȘtre.

I don't think voters in 2008 (and to a lesser extent in 2012) understood what fundamentally really meant to Barack Obama. In 2008, voters were ready for a relief from "Bush Fatigue" and in 2012, Obama won by annihilation in a straw man contest against a poor campaigner, Mitt Romney. In 2014, after his party was crushed in the mid-term elections, his response was a Monty Python-esque doubling down to reach his goals. You can almost hear him in the Oval Office say "It's just a flesh wound..." as he indicated that he had heard the pleas of those who did NOT VOTE.

While he may not be as politically astute as Bill Clinton, he is much more chameleon-like in his ability to appear to be the cool guy while his behind-the-scenes machinations keep chipping away at the edifice. His foreign policy (can we call it a policy???) will be captured for posterity in the 2018 Academy Award winning film "As the World Spins".

His world-class yarn-spinners have set the bar excruciatingly high for the next administration. Their ability to take a direct question and deflect it into a completely different direction with little blowback for not answering the original query will be taught as the obfuscation gold standard in PR graduate schools for generations to come (this education will be free, by the way).

Finally, we have found the real "JV team" and it isn't ISIS. It is the public face of the State Department. What better way to "fundamentally transform America" than to take the US from "the guy that no one likes but is afraid of anyway" to "the guy that no one likes but will let him buy everyone ice cream".

Yeah, I think Obama loves America and he is loving it more every day.
